Engagement sessions are lots of fun for us, especially when there’s a kiddo in the mix. These 2 were so laid back and were up for anything so we were able to mix it up and try some different looks for them. We started with a graffiti wall that we felt was appropriate for the occasion 🙂 The session continued in an urban area followed by a field later and we had fun each step of the way. And Megan’s son was such a joy to work with! He’s a cutie patootie!
It’s such an honor to be featured again on Seniorologie! You can see Sarah’s senior session on the Seniorologie blog! And a huge thanks to Leah of Your Beautiful Face for such a great job with Sarah’s hair and makeup!
We had a blast working with Alina! She shot her session in the summer and while it was hot we had it covered – cue the full size fan and battery pack! If you missed out on that behind the scene shot you can check it out on our Instagram account 😀
Alina was a referral from one of our 2015 seniors, Emily Blum! We love it when our senior girls show us love by telling their friends about us! Since we don’t advertise we heavily rely on our girls to talk about us behind our backs! But in a good way of course!
One thing we loved about Alina is her love for the outdoors – she plays softball, fishes, and even loves to eno! Okay… we will be honest… we had to look that last one up (thanks Google)! But it looks super fun and now that the weather is cooling down we are going to have to try it! Road trip to Big Bend anyone?
Anyway, thanks Alina for choosing JOIE to create senior portraits for you! We wish you all the best in your new adventures!
We’ve loved working with our Class of 2016 Spokesmodels because they are fun and awesome and also very active! And we want you to get to know these amazing girls as well. So we’ve asked them to tell us a little bit about how their summer is going so far:
MEET MARY CAROLINE!
JP: What all are you up to this summer?
C: This summer I traveled to many places for vacation, college visits, and musical theatre programs. These places include Austin; Dallas; Fort Worth; Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Los Angeles, California; San Diego, California; Irvine, California; New York City, New York; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
C: The biggest highlight was a musical theatre program I went to in North Carolina. It is called The Performing Arts Project, and it was located at Wakeforest University.
C: One night in North Carolina, my friends and I were playing the Odds Game. My best friend, Ashlyn, dared me to lie on the floor while she balanced as many Doritos on my face as she could. I ended up having to do it and we now have a very funny picture and a great memory!
C: Over the course of the summer, I learned many things about musical theatre, colleges, and life in general.
C: I am applying to 13 colleges for acting and musical theatre! They are: University of Southern California, University of California Los Angeles, University of California Irvine, Pepperdine University, Santa Clara University, Texas Christian University, Southern Methodist University, University of Texas, St. Edward’s University, Tulane University, Belmont University, American University, and Florida State University.

MEET SARAH!
JP: What all are you up to this summer?
S: This summer I interned for a Pharmaceutical Research company in North Carolina. I stayed with my extended family who lives there for 5 weeks and worked as an intern in all the departments of the company. I learned a lot about the process that gets helpful awesome drugs on the market. That was a really exciting experience because I plan on pursuing a career in medicine and so I was exposed to many elements of that. I also went on a week long hiking trip with my Young Life group in Canada. We hiked in the forest and rock climbed and camped every night. That was one of the most intense, beautiful, rewarding things I have ever done.
S: Either getting my first paycheck or reaching the summit of the mountain.
S: Lots of funny falls while hiking. At lunch on Day 1, everyone was exhausted and sort of discouraged so we sat down at our lunch spot and as my friend went to take her pack off, it fell off and tumbled into a dry river bank below. It was okay and she got it back, but we all laughed so hard at her.
S: I’ve learned a lot about time management because of all the preparation for college. I’ve had to visit, write essays, work on my resume, and start the applications.
S: Applying for college/getting ready for senior year has been crazy stressful. Studying for ACT’s, writing essays and doing summer reading along with all the other things that summer involves is hectic but I know that it will all be worth it in the end! I can’t wait for my senior year.
